Seriously? Is there a strategy for the instagram highlight stories?
Well, yes – those Instagram bubbles that appear under your bio – if of course, you’ve made stories before… they may have a strategy if you use them well.
And it’s not a strategy of showing everything and making endless bubbles to bore people. No. It’s a well-thought-out strategy that should be in line with your brand.
I know hearing the word STRATEGY can be tiring because you probably have heard it too many times, but to the question, Do those bubbles really serve to enhance my brand or not?
The answer is YEEESSsss. They do serve and I’m going to explain to you how to get the most out of them to connect better with your potential client.
Because to sell your services you need to connect with that person who is going to buy from you: your client or potential client.
The goal here is to connect and to be at the TOP of MIND of this person – so they think of you and come to you when they need to solve their problem.
One way to do it for FREE is with the stories highlights as a space well though and not as a place where everything fits.
Why are the stories highlights important?
Because they are evergreen content and the 2nd element, if not the 1st, that anyone who enters your profile will see after your bio. So it’s best if you’re already doing stories that you use intelligently to make a first – and perfect impression of your potential client.
Few people will go to your profile and make infinite scrolling to that first post of the year 0. But the Instagram bubbles are there. At the touch of a finger.
What is the objective of the stories highlights?
As I mentioned before, there are 2 objectives: connecting with your potential client + being remembered.
To do this, it is very important that the content of these featured stories is ordered and please, please, don’t make it infinite!
How many featured stories do I show?
There is no specific and closed number of bubbles to put, but I advise you to have at least 4.
Why? Because 4 are the stories highlights you see first on any person’s profile. They are 4 opportunities to grab attention, make a click and fall in love with your content, your solution, your service, and you.
Can I put more featured stories? Yes, of course, you can! but be careful not to overdo it and make it infinite. If for example, you are promoting a new service, that should be accompanied by a bubble at the 1st position.
We also need to keep in mind that no one likes too many options. If you start showing endless bubbles, it will probably overwhelm the viewer and we don’t want that feeling.
Because what happens when you get overwhelmed by something? You get stressed. You stop choosing and you leave. It’s too much work for the brain. And we don’t want your potential client to leave, right?
What do I show in the stories highlights? What content works best?
Although what to show or not will depend on the strategy of your brand; it is true that there are some more common elements that you could already incorporate.
It’s essential that before you start showing stories highlights like there’s no tomorrow, you stop. Yes, stop.
Think about your audience: what kind of content would they be interested in? What kind of information would they like to see? What kind of content would make them want to know more about you? And does that align with your brand and your brand values?
And about your brand; what do you sell? Are your services clear enough? Depending on the type of business and brand you have, the number of highlights will vary. I recommended before that you take 4, but what 4?
About me – connecting by strengthening closeness:
Okay, but should show every single thing about me?
Well, no, of course not. Here it is about 2 things: 1 – that you feel comfortable sharing that content – complexes aside: you choose what content is public and what is private within your personal life and 2 – that it makes sense and serves to enhance that closeness.
Services – What problem do I solve?
What do you do? How can you help me? – Remember that this is not about you; but about the person who wants to buy from you.
If someone enters your profile and goes to that highlighted story of services, is it clear to them quickly what you do? How can you help them? That’s what this is about!
Testimonials – or what they say about me regarding how I solve a specific problem.
It doesn’t matter if not all testimonials are the same. It doesn’t matter if it’s a fragment of a WhatsApp conversation, or an email, or an audio or a video. Everything is valid. In addition, the more varied the better because it will generate the sensation that it is more real – however, text-only testimonials are real too.
Something personal – that helps connect
Yes, in this highlight the objective is to connect, how? With something more personal that you don’t sell.
For example, I don’t sell trips; but today, travel and living in different places is something very important in my life that also helps me connect more with the people who follow me.
People tend to connect more and better with those contents that are “more yours”, where they see more of the person who wants to solve their problem for them.
Do you find it a hassle to do these highlights?
